405 Colorado
Location: Austin, TX
Architect: Duda Paine
Client: Brandywine Realty Trust
Located in Austin’s historic downtown Warehouse District, landscape design for the 405 Colorado Class A Office Tower balances both distinctive and classic elements in a space that occupies less than one city block. Street trees along the tower’s edge provide a shady transition from indoors to out while colorful hardscape defines seating areas and plays off of the Tower’s terracotta-colored lower half. The design provides ample street trees in an area with limited green space and softens the transition from large-scale architecture to smaller buildings, resulting in an inviting streetscape fitted for the human scale.
While ground-level landscaping beautifies the space for pedestrians, the tower’s sky lobby on the 14th floor is an outdoor hub for building occupants seeking fresh air, views, and conveniently-accessed green space. Varied planting here defines zones and adds sophistication.
