This University of Texas Gold-Rated LEED facility is located along the historical University Avenue of UT’s main campus and houses McCombs School of Business classrooms, a hotel and conference centers. A rooftop courtyard sits atop a below-grade parking garage and serves as the heart of the building with outdoor spaces for dining and social functions. Earth tone pavers, decomposed granite paths and a “mother-father” water feature are highlights of this courtyard, but the focal point is a 15,000-lb transplanted Texas Live Oak that was craned in over 3 stories of structure to its final location on a berm within the courtyard space. Coleman & Associates’ services included site planning, courtyard design, tree relocation coordination, swimming pool area, and outdoor grill design, and all streetscape design and coordination between the University of Texas and the City of Austin.
