Jaime D. Padron Elementary is a large elementary campus, with 57 classrooms on a bright, inviting state-of-the art campus in north Austin. The design includes classrooms and a library clustered around an atrium to bring daylight to the interior to enhance the learning environment. Site planning had to accommodate vehicle circulation and multiple access points for buses, parent dropoffs, and staff parking. Coleman & Associates provided landscape architecture services to help redesign the exterior of the building in order to express its new purpose as an elementary school, and to create a lively, welcoming appearance. Other exterior improvements include outdoor play areas, parking modifications, and vehicle circulation improvements for buses and parent drop-offs—all of which comply with sustainable design standards.
